Chi Onwurah MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Innovation, Science & the Digital Economy, commenting on the announcement of GlaxoSmithKline investment in Ulverston today, said:
BIVDA had a very good meeting with Mr Sharma last week. After a discussion surrounding the input of BIVDA into the Innovation, Health and Wealth agenda, he tabled some PQs regarding its progress.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is asking for views on the regulations that govern its work.

On 12th March, the day we met with him, Lord Walton of Detchant, had the following letter published in The Times. He almost seems to pre-empt today’s announcements by the Royal College of General Practitioners, which have the tone of reluctant acceptance.

This is a UK-wide consultation undertaken by the Department of Health on behalf of all 4 UK health administrations. The consultation on rare diseases has been launched today following the European Council’s recommendation that every member state of the European Union should develop a national strategy on rare diseases. Responses to the consultation will inform the final plan, which is due to be produced by the end of 2013.
